A few quick photos from Niagara Falls. The most serendipitous thing on this trip was the fireworks that happened over the falls while we were on our Ferris-wheel ride. Kathy was so excited! She loves fireworks! Unfortunately the Maid of the Mist was not to open for 2 more days, so we missed that. I saw the point of the delay, there was actually still ice and snow on the ground at the bottom of the falls. If you have never been to Niagara, I encourage you to check it out. There is a lot of touristy stuff if you like that kind of thing, but there are also fun things, like walking along the gorge and getting wet from the falls spray!

Tulip Time Festival, Holland MI 2011

Spring Mill Pond Snake May 2011
I saw several snakes in Spring Mill Pond (Island Lake Recreation Area, Brighton MI) last week, and managed to snap a picture of this one. It was about 2-1/2 to 3 feet long, and moved quickly in about 6” of water. Does anyone know what kind of snake this is?

Midwest Fly Fishing Expo 2011
The Midwest Fly Fishing Expo in Warren MI is the oldest Fly Fishing show in the US. I Enjoyed looking at the Fly Rods, Drift Boats, and fly-fisher gadgets. If the old-timey exhibitors had taken a debit card I would have spent money! There were also alot of guide services and outfitters represented. But what I saw the most were the fly-tyers and tons of feathers. Check out the stuffed rooster in my photos The best part were the seminar on Line Handling and management by Kelly Galloup (live at the casting pond) and "Hex on the Huron" by Dirk Fishbach. Thank's Dirk, I took tons of notes!

Ice Fishing on Kent Lake - Milford Michigan 3-6-2011
Beautiful day on the lake. Still about 10" of ice. There must be lots of fish down there, they are certainly not in my bucket.
